I am always on the lookout for new adventures, friends, and exciting things to do.

During my recent visit to Martinsville, I stumbled upon a hidden gem that had it all – the Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center.

Located inside the New College Institute building, this visitor center is a one-stop option for travelers and local citizens seeking information about the immediate area and the entire Commonwealth of Virginia.

The moment I stepped inside the visitor center, I was greeted with warmth and friendliness.

The staff, including Jennifer Doss and her team – Heather, Melia, Marquita, and Beth – were extremely knowledgeable about the area and excited to share their insights with me.

They provided me with a plethora of information, including brochures about city services, shopping, and fun activities, such as the MHC 40 Low Cost Activities brochure and the Fun in Record Time brochure.

I was delighted to learn about the Virginia Museum of Natural History, which is a research and collections facility that is open to the public.

The museum has a dedicated team of researchers, educators, and volunteers, making it a must-visit attraction in Martinsville.

Apart from the museum, the visitor center also provided me with information about the local art tour, restaurants, and shopping options in the area.

I was amazed to find out that Martinsville had more than three restaurants, as I had initially thought.

The downtown map and Martinsville/Henry County map provided by the visitor center helped me plan my next adventure and mark the places I wanted to visit.

What’s more, I made new friends during my visit to the visitor center.

Jennifer, Marquita, Heather, Melia, Beth, Amy, Janice, and Mary were all incredibly welcoming and made my visit to Martinsville a memorable one.
